Pathology Report Back

The cancer is gone!!! They got all the cancer out!!!! The lymph nodes were completely clear, and the tissue they removed around the cancerous area was also clear of cancer!!!

Tomorrow my surgeon will call the radiation oncologist to discuss my case and set up an appointment for me to meet him and make plans for my radiation treatment.

The other news is that my cancer is 100% estrogen-receptor positive. This means that it grows with estrogen and does not thrive without estrogen. This is important with regard to recurrence. My chance of recurrence is at least double that of a person who has never had breast cancer. Since we know what kind of cancer I have, they can give me medicine to suppress estrogen in my body and greatly reduce the chance of recurrence.

Hello medically-induced menopause, goodbye cancer!
